Ryan Manchester strives to create relevant, emotionally intelligent music ranging from the wildly visceral to hauntingly lyrical.
Ryan’s music has been programmed in both the US and Europe and was recently featured on a compilation CD of emerging New York composers by the Nouveau Classical Project. Over the past year, Ryan won first place in the 3rd Annual UnCaged Toy Piano Composition Competition; was accepted to the 2009 June in Buffalo Festival; and participated in the Cleveland State University Composers’ Recording Institution.
Graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in Music Composition, he studied composition with Dr. Andrew May, Dr. David Bithell, and Dr. James Worlton. Classes with notable faculty include Orchestration with Dr. Cindy McTee, composition seminars with Dr. Joseph Klein, and Contemporary Music with Dr. Elizabeth McNutt.
Presently, Ryan studies composition with Tristan Murail at Columbia University.
