CheckMe

Privacy Policy

CheckMe is a period and reproductive health tracking app designed to help users keep control of their data. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App records, where that information is stored, when it may leave your device, what limited information may be received remotely, and what choices you have.

Summary

  • No account is required.
  • No backend server is used to collect or store your health data.
  • No sale of personal data or health data.
  • Your health data is stored locally on your device unless you choose to export, share, import, or restore it, all under your control.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to users of CheckMe on Android and iOS.

2. Information you choose to record in the App

CheckMe allows you to record and manage reproductive health information in the App, including:

The App may also use the information you record to generate on-device insights, summaries, predictions, reminders, and other features within the App.

This information may be considered sensitive personal information or health information under some laws.

3. Where your data is stored

The App is designed to store your data locally on your device.

We do not provide a cloud account, hosted sync service, or app backend that stores or automatically receives your health data.

Your device operating system may offer backup or restore features that are controlled by Apple, Google, or your device provider. If enabled on your device, those platform-level backups may include app data, subject to the provider's own terms, settings, and policies.

4. Limited information received remotely

CheckMe is designed to operate without a backend server for your health data. During normal use of the App, we do not receive the period, symptom, note, reminder, or other health information that you record in the App on our own servers.

The only information that may be received remotely is crash-related technical data made available through Google services if the App crashes. This information is used to help diagnose stability problems and improve the App. It is not used to build advertising profiles or to sell your data.

5. When data may leave your device

Your data may leave your device only when you intentionally choose to move it using an operating system or app feature such as:

These actions are user-initiated. You control whether to use them, what data to export, and where to send or store exported files.

6. Import, export, backup, and sharing

The App may let you:

When you use these features:

You should review the privacy policies of any third-party service you use to store or transmit exported files.

7. Widgets and notifications

The App may provide home screen widgets and local reminders.

Widgets

If you enable a widget, some app information may be displayed outside the main app interface on your home screen or other device surfaces, depending on your device and operating system behavior. This may make sensitive information visible to other people who can see your device.

Local notifications

The App may schedule and display local notifications on your device. Notification content may appear on the lock screen, notification shade, or wearable or companion surfaces depending on your system settings.

You are responsible for managing your device notification privacy settings.

8. Biometric or device authentication

The App may let you use biometric authentication or device credentials to protect access within the App, or create an in-app PIN to help restrict access by other people using the same device.

If enabled:

Biometric data handling is governed primarily by your device platform provider and device settings.

9. Permissions and device access

Depending on your platform and the features you use, the App may request access to:

The App is designed to use these features only to provide the functionality you request.

10. Data retention

Because your information is stored locally, retention is primarily controlled by you.

Your data may remain on your device until you:

Please note:

11. Data security

We aim to support a privacy-preserving, local-first design. However, no device, operating system, or file transfer method is perfectly secure.

Your security also depends on factors outside the App, including:

To better protect your data, consider:

12. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, or under a higher minimum age where required by local law.

Because CheckMe is designed without a backend for storing user health data, we do not knowingly receive personal health information from children on our own servers through normal use of the App. If you believe someone is using the App in violation of applicable law, please contact us so we can consider appropriate steps.

13. International use

If you export or share data using third-party apps or cloud providers, your data may be stored or processed in countries determined by those providers. Those transfers are governed by the third party you choose, not by us.

Crash-related technical data handled through Google services may also be processed according to Google's own terms, systems, and applicable data handling practices.

14. Your choices and rights

Because the App is designed so that you control your data locally, your choices include:

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights related to personal data, such as rights to access, delete, or correct data. For data stored only on your own device, many of these controls are exercised directly by you within the App or on your device.

15. Third-party services and SDK behavior

The App may use platform and open-source libraries to provide local functionality such as local storage, notifications, widgets, file import and export, PDF or spreadsheet generation, sharing, and biometric authentication.

The App may also rely on Google services for crash-related technical reporting. Aside from that limited crash-related information, these components are used to support App functionality rather than to transmit your health data to us.

However, when you intentionally export, share, save, or open content with another app or service, that third party may process your data under its own terms.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or privacy practices.

17. Contact

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, you may contact the app developer if you know them, or alternatively raise an issue in this GitHub repository.
